EPISODE ONE: JUNE 8th 2010

Dear Fans,

Here’s some ‘Shit From the Lip’, (Written on the 8th of June).

What a crazy life I’m living! We have only just begun the Euro’ tour and it’s already been a wild ride, literally! The days stay bright in Russia late as we touched down in Moscow and I knew this tour was starting with a fuckin’ bang when some guys from the ‘Night Wolves’, a bike club there, met us at the Kempenski Hotel and lent us their wild Saxon S & S H.D. custom bikes to ride while they escorted me and the band on an hour long ride (No Helmets!) thru the streets of Moscow. We darted and turned screaming through the evening streets as it turned dark, we were escorted by the Night Wolves to their ‘Mad Max’ styled self made club they built.

Eugene lent me his custom bike which must have been worth 30 thousand dollars! I was a little nervous I might drop it and look a klutz to the world but I soon settled in as the roar of my bikes pipes sang a rock n roll melody that cooled me out as the ‘Wolves’ stopped traffic as if we were visiting dignitaries gesturing madly at the car drivers if they dared to get in our way! It made me think of our new song ‘Love is Strange’ which lyrics are about bikes and broads, this broad in particular, they say

‘Don’t try and stop me,
Don’t get in my way
I’ve a date with love
I just can’t wait,
See the signs saying man on fire,
Baby love takes me higher and higher’

We saw Moscow the best way from the seat of some outrageous bikes, a fitting elegy to Dennis Hopper who died the day before and who inspired me to ride by making ‘Easy Rider’.

The encroaching dark and traffic couldn’t stop us rockin’ and rollin’ thru the wet Moscow streets as with wild abandon we hit high speeds regardless of the risks! All our faces were a glow, what a reception!

We followed a side car with a flag that led us inexorably down twists and turns over bridges and by old glorious buildings, that reeked of a wild long history, to the club I described where we drank Vodka and ate fish eggs and I rocked out with a local band who I joined on the stage of the club to sing ‘Scream’. I chatted to a photographer called Casati who told me about Moscow and I hung with some other locals.

Next day they, The Wolves, met us again and escorted us on the same bikes to my Moscow gig which we were so turned on by that we played for two and a half hours! Christ it was great! True rock n roll! Thanks Night Wolves and I will see your fellow members in Macedonia when we get there! Thanks Eugene for the loan of the bike!

We traveled to St Petersburg next day where we had another cool gig at an ice rink, although the jet lag is hitting me, we still rocked the house. See you all at the Helsinki gig and Swedish festival and then I’m coming home to rock my own back yard at Donnington, we plan to do some Gen X. songs such as ‘Running with the Boss Sound’ ‘Kingrocker’ ‘Kiss Me Deadly’ plus ‘Ready Steady Go’ as a homage to my old band plus a new song which is a homage to my career ‘Kings and Queens of the Underground’ written by Myself, Billy Morrison and Steve Stevens, the first verse goes:

‘Born in a time that wasn’t made to last,
In 1977 it went fast,
Johnny told us to rise,
Not to give a shit,
And then ‘Kiss me deadly’,
And we had a hit,
Last night in the Roxy we fucked on the floor,
Shot up in the Bathroom and said we were bored,
But if you are here tonight and you hear these sounds,
We are still Kings and Queens of the underground’

Well we will find out on the 13th! See you there, I’m stoked!

Love Billy Fuckin’ Idol.Xxx
